Phone Number Waiting For Verification Result Issue

pi network phone number verification problem solved

When verifying the phone number, you may have faced the screen that says “Waiting For Verification Result” and been stuck there for ages. Even after sending the SMS successfully, the verification just does not work. Follow the step-by-step process that has worked for me. Do not skip any step, as every step is important. By the end of the article, your issue will be resolved. Let’s get started.

Why Phone Number Verification Matters

Phone number verification serves multiple purposes:

  • Account Security: It adds an extra layer of protection, ensuring that only genuine users have access.
  • Eligibility for Mainnet Migration: Verification is a prerequisite for migrating your mined Pi coins to the Mainnet.
  • Security Circle: For adding people to your security circle using their phone number to boost the Pi coin mining rate and make your security circle stronger, phone number verification is important.

Pre-requisites

  • Ensure your device and telecom provider can send international SMS.
  • Make sure you have an international plan activated and opted in for international services provided by your telecom operator.
  • Sufficient balance to send SMS internationally.

Step-by-Step Guide to Phone Number Verification

  • Open the Pi Network App & go to the profile tab: Tap the three horizontal lines located at the top left corner. Scroll down and select “Profile.”

  • Add a new phone number if you want to change it: Carefully enter the number, as you can only change it for a limited number of times and limited characters.

  • Initiate Verification: Tap on the “Verify” button next to the phone number option.

  • Select Your Country’s Server: Depending on your location, choose the appropriate server:
    • USA, UK, Belgium, Israel, and Australia are the available options.
Important: If you’re outside these countries, my personal preference would be Israeli servers. I have wasted a lot of my international SMS balance and tried verifying using the USA, UK, Israel & Australia. And some of them a couple of times, so that you don’t have to. Some of the SMSs got sent but not delivered, and some of them got delivered, but the verification was still stuck and was showing the “waiting for verification” message. The Israeli server worked for me on the second try.

  • Important: Here’s the secret trick. Follow this very carefully. Instead of clicking the start button, click the “Manual instructions” link.

  • DO NOT send the SMS yet: If you have sent the sms a few minutes ago, upon clicking the “I Have Sent The Text” button, the code refreshes and changes, incurring you more SMS charges for the new code and previous verification failure. Clicking on the “I Have Sent The Text” button first will ensure you get the latest code and continue fresh verification. Click on it and click on the “Start Over” button in the next window to get the latest code as shown in the screenshot.

  • Select my recommended server or choose as per your preference.

  • Send the code to the appropriate recipient.

  • Make sure that you have selected the correct SIM number to send the code. Make sure the SMS has been delivered successfully by checking the double tick mark, depending on your SMS app.

  • Await Confirmation: After sending, return to the app and tap “I have sent the code.” The verification process typically takes 1–2 minutes, but can extend up to 5 minutes. Remain on the verification page until you receive confirmation. In my case, the verification took seconds.

  • Aye woila! Your account has been successfully verified.

Verification Fails After Multiple Attempts:

  • Avoid sending the verification SMS more than twice within 24 hours to prevent your number from being blocked.
  • If verification fails, wait a full day before attempting again.

Alternative Verification: Facebook

If phone verification isn’t possible, you can opt for Facebook verification:

  1. In the Pi Network App: Navigate to “Profile.”
  2. Tap “Verify”: Next to the Facebook option.
  3. Log In to Facebook: Enter your credentials and grant the necessary permissions.
  4. Complete Verification: Follow the on-screen prompts to finalize the process.

Note: Some users have reported issues with Facebook verification; hence, phone number verification is generally recommended.
